Frequently asked questions
How do I book an appointment?
Call us on 22 445555 (24/7) or use the appointment request form; we call you back to confirm a date and time.
Do I need a referral from my GP?
For GESY patients, yes: your personal doctor issues a referral to the specialist. Private patients can book directly.
What should I bring on the day of surgery?
Your ID or passport, all your medication including inhalers, your glasses (to read and sign the consent forms), and the name and phone number of the person collecting you. Leave valuables at home.
When must I stop eating and drinking?
Admission before 12:00: nothing to eat after midnight. Admission from 12:00: a small light breakfast before 07:00. In both cases water is allowed until 6 hours before admission, unless your doctor tells you otherwise.
Will I stay overnight?
Most procedures are day cases, but the clinic has an overnight ward and your surgeon decides whether you stay based on the operation and your recovery.
Can I drive home after my operation?
No. After a general anaesthetic you must not drive for 48 hours, and someone must collect you and stay with you for the first 24 hours.
Is there parking?
Yes, there is underground parking in the building with lift access to every floor.
Who do I contact after discharge if I am worried?
Your discharge letter has your doctor's contact details. For anything about your wound, pain or swelling, contact your doctor; in an emergency call 112.
